Candidate Qualifying

QUALIFYING FOR ELECTIONS

Candidates are encouraged to check with the Registrar of Voters to verify their party affiliation before coming to the Clerks Office. Qualifying fees must be paid with cash or money order. No personal checks will be accepted.

Louisiana Ethics laws require each candidate to sign a sworn statement certifying the following: they are not a convicted felon, are familiar with and subject to the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, are familiar with and subject to Louisiana laws regarding the placement of campaign signs, and do not owe any fines, fees, or penalties pursuant to the Code of Governmental Ethics. In addition to the Campaign Finance Disclosure Reporting requirements, candidates must file a personal financial disclosure report within 10 days of qualifying. Failure to file the required reports on time may result in the levy of fines up to $100.00 per day.

Our staff is available to assist anyone interested in qualifying for office. We encourage candidates to call or email our office with questions regarding the upcoming elections. Our telephone number is 318-263-2123 and email address is jimmartin@bienvilleparish.org. We also recommended the Secretary of State's website (www.geauxvote.com) and the Louisiana Ethics Commission website (www.ethics.state.la.us) for additional candidate information.
