Election Commissioner Re-Certification
We have scheduled 3 class times to provide the opportunity for all election commissioners to re-certify. Class times are as follows:
Tuesday, July 19, 2016 - 6:00 pm Courthouse Annex Ringgold
Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - 2:00 pm Community Center Castor
Thursday, July 21, 2016 - 6:00 pm Courthouse Arcadia...
The completion of one class is required to certify as a commissioner for the new term which will begin July 1, 2016. Commissioners who wish to re-certify and anyone who wishes to become a commissioner may pick whichever class is most conventient to attend. Only 1 completed couse is necessary to certify.

You must have the following
qualifications to serve as a commissioner:
- You must be able to vote without assistance.
- You must not be a candidate in the election.
- You may be selected to serve in any precinct of the district
in which you are registered to vote.
- You must not have been convicted of any election offense.
- You must not be a law enforcement officer.
This course is open to
anyone who wishes to re-certify or become a commissioner. In order to qualify as a commissioner, you must
be present for an entire class and must pass a written test.
Candidates for commissioner
are strongly encouraged to watch the 2 part video entitled “Election Day Training
video” found on the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website. The web address is

You may also type
“geauxvote” on your web browser and follow the links to election commissioner
training. This video provides information which will help candidates better
understand the Election Day process and assist candidates with the required
written test administered at the end of the class.
If you do not have a home
computer, you may find one at your local branch library where you may watch the
video and obtain assistance from the library personnel.
