QUALIFYING FOR FALL ELECTIONS

 

August 5, 2015:  Bienville Parish Clerk of Court Jim Martin announced today that qualifying for candidates running during the fall elections will be held from Tuesday September 8 thru Thursday September 10, 2015. Candidates qualifying with the Clerk of Court may do so between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day.

 

Candidates who wish to qualify for the state offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Insurance, and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education must qualify with the Secretary of State in Baton Rouge. Candidates qualifying for Parish and District offices of State Senator, State Representative, Sheriff, Clerk of Court, Assessor, Coroner, and all Police Jury Districts, will qualify with the Clerk of Court locally.

 

The Fall Primary Election is scheduled for October 24, 2015 and the General Election will be held November 21, 2015. Early voting for the Primary Election will begin October 10 and run through October 17 (except Sunday). Early voting will be conducted in the office of the Registrar of Voters in the Courthouse beginning at 8:00 a.m. and concluding at 6:00 p.m. daily.

Candidates are encouraged to check with the Registrar of Voters to verify their party affiliation before coming to the Clerks Office. Qualifying fees must be paid with cash or money order. No personal checks will be accepted.

 

Louisiana Ethics laws require each candidate to sign a sworn statement certifying the following: they are not a convicted felon, are familiar with and subject to the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, are familiar with and subject to Louisiana laws regarding the placement of campaign signs, and do not owe any fines, fees, or penalties pursuant to the Code of Governmental Ethics. In addition to the Campaign Finance Disclosure Reporting requirements, candidates must file a personal financial disclosure report within 10 days of qualifying. Failure to file the required reports on time may result in the levy of fines up to $100.00 per day.
